How it all started...
The formation of Christ Church, formerly known as Lutheran Ministries in Christ, began in May of 1966. Other American Lutheran Churches, like Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Margate recognized that the expanding town of Coral Springs had a growing population with a need for churches and religious organizations.
Over the next five years property was purchased at 10021 Sample Road and Rev. Jerry Lee Straszheim was called as its developing pastor in 1971. Early congregation members met in homes during the formation and received the official articles of incorporation on March 16, 1973. Later that year, they started meeting in the Westinghouse Home Center on University Drive. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 12, 1975 and the new church construction began. The first church building, which is now our Fellowship Hall, was finished in spring of 1976. Our first on-site worship service was held on May 9, 1976, and the official dedication was held on June 6, 1976.
Pastor Jerry Straszheim was beloved in the Coral Springs community for his faithful service and sincere love of the Lord. We have had great servant leaders and people of God through our longstanding history. Previous pastors include Rev. Robert Grimm and Rev. Dr. Louis Forney. Rev. Dr. Sean L. Forde is our current pastor, serving since 2019.

Expanding the vision...
As we grew, we formed a school and also built our main Sanctuary. Sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, education, study, and service continues to remain our focus.
We offer Christian education which is available through our school, children’s Sunday School, youth, and adult Bible Studies and educational programs.
We provide help and relief locally through our Helping Families Fund and globally through Lutheran World Relief. We have a heart for helping others by providing food through our pantry and food drives, as well as offering a host of ministry and fellowship opportunities.

Our vision is marked by our history. We look back on our history with gratitude in celebration of God’s grace towards Christ Church; and we look forward to another 50 years of sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through worship, study, service and so much more.
