Outreach

We host periodic Bring a Friend Weekends, encouraging worshippers to invite a friend to worship with them.  We provide a modest gift bag for first time worshippers.  We’ve been trying to focus on great hospitality and gracious greeters to help first time visitors feel welcome.   We provide marked Guest Parking spaces near the entrance drive to help guests feel welcome.  We also try to keep the church very Visitor Friendly for first time attenders.

Recently, we started doing more outreach through local media and have assembled a Marketing Team to better organize our efforts.  We’re planning more digital and more print outreach efforts as the budget allows.  We hand out free popcorn and bottled water to the hundreds of marchers in the Coral Springs Holiday Parade.

Periodically, we offer a New Member Orientation for people who want to know more about the church and those considering membership.   We want new members to be familiar with our history and beliefs – and know how they can get involved in the ministry at Christ Church.

Matthew 25      In Matthew 25, Jesus makes it clear that if you are a follower of Jesus, then you need to care about the poor.   People who are thirty, hungry, homeless matter to God and they matter to us.

Food Pantry   All through the year, we operate a Food Pantry for people in the community who need non-perishable food.   At times our funding allows us to help people with other basic needs.

School Supplies for students in Freeport, Bahamas, Christ Church has several seasonal projects that we undertake each year.    We gather backpacks and school supplies for needy students in Freeport, Bahamas.

“God’s Work, Our Hands” The second weekend in September, we join Lutherans across the country through “God’s Work, Our Hands” – adopting several projects to meet the needs of people, including a Blood Drive.   We provide Halloween costumes for women in distress.

Holiday Help We distribute boxes of food for Easter. We put together Thanksgiving Food Baskets for people in our community.   We also provide Christmas gifts for people through an Angel Tree in December.

Blessing Bags We assemble blessing bags for people to carry in their car, so they can provide some temporary help to people seeking some basic provisions.     We are open to other projects that meet basic human needs.

Congregation Care

Christ Church cares about its members and support people all the time – but especially when they are going through the challenges of life.   Pastor Lou and trained, caring Stephen Ministers are available if you want someone to pray with or talk to.  We visit and bring communion to Homebound Members and have a team that is working to expand that ministry.   We deliver Care Meals to people who have been hospitalized, or lost a loved one, or have other special needs.   A dedicated Prayer Team intercedes in prayer to God on your behalf.   If there are other needs we can meet or other ways we can help – please let us know.

Fellowship Team

We know the importance of deep relationships in the local church.  One of the best ways to grow deep relationships is to join a small group.   See the Discipleship Tab on the website to learn more.   These groups meet regularly and provide the opportunity to connect with others.

The Fellowship Team also plans periodic events at Christ Church to get the whole community together.   There is a great Community Picnic in the spring with food and beverage and games for adults and bounce houses for the kids.   It’s a great opportunity for you to come and bring a friend and meet new friends as well!

We have Soup Suppers on Wednesdays during the season of Lent, prior to Wednesday Worship services.  Come join us for some great homemade soup made by the good cooks of Christ Church.   We recently held our First Annual Sweet Corn Festival with over 150 in attendance with some cooking contests, games for the kids, good food and great fellowship.  The Band played some great music for dancing and listening pleasure.    Soon, we’re planning a fall Octoberfest event with Brats and good fellowship.   As we come into the Holiday Season, we have an Advent Day to decorate the church, make some Christmas crafts, and enjoy some good food.
